Who we are...

Edge of the Wedge is a family-run sharpening service on Mercer Island, started in late 2021 by Dash, then 12, with help from his dad, Eric. The business model came out of the COVID era: a home-based service, touchless drop-off and pickup, and a simple goal of making something useful for neighbors.
What began as a workshop experiment has grown into a 24/7 locker-based service for customers across Mercer Island, Seattle, Bellevue, and the Eastside. Customers can drop off and pick up on their own schedule, and orders are ready within 24 hours.
Today, Dash is 17, and his 14-year-old sister, Clara, is taking on more of the day-to-day work. Dash is helping her learn the sharpening process, customer communication, and shop systems that have shaped Edge of the Wedge from the beginning.
We also donate 5% of proceeds to Breakthrough T1D, supporting research and local programs for people living with Type 1 diabetes, a cause close to our family since Clara's diagnosis in 2020.
